Description This is highly responsible supervisory work managing the Traffic Engineering projects of the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. Work involves supervising, planning, and organizing project activities of transportation planning, engineering, and design for the Traffic Infrastructure and Traffic Systems workgroups.
Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)
Manages and implements traffic capital improvement programs. Plans, designs, and reviews traffic and transportation planning projects.
Develops and coordinates traffic control planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance for the Traffic Infrastructure and Traffic Systems workgroups.
Acts on behalf of the Asst. Public Works Engineering Director at meetings and conferences. Has signatory authority on traffic capital improvement plan sets in absence of the Asst. Public Works Engineering Director.
Reviews and analyzes transportation studies and statistics.
Represents the County with various intergovernmental transportation agencies.
Identifies and resolves conflicts with traffic and transportation planning contractors and consulting engineers.
Consults with and advises the Public Works Management Team on transportation and traffic issues including policy decisions.
Develops and oversees goals, objectives, workloads, and priorities. Trains, supervises, and evaluates staff performance. Develops and implements internal procedures and operating policies.
Prepares and provides recommendations on improved efficiencies, effectiveness, and division productivity to the Asst. Public Works Engineering Director.
Prepares and makes presentations to the public, Planning Commission, and the Board of County Commissioners.
Supervises assigned staff, assists with training, evaluates work products, and recommends personnel action to the Asst. Public Works Engineering Director.
Responds to public inquiries and complaints.
Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Generally a bachelor's of sciencedegree (B.
S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in civil engineering, or a closely related field, and 12 years of related experience, including four years of supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) with the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. Valid State of Colorado Driver's License is required.
The ability to successfully complete pre-employment screening including, but not limited to: reference checks, criminal background, motor vehicle check, and drug screen is required.
