Job Description: Weaver-Bailey Contractors, Inc. is pleased to offer an internship program for students aiming to enter the construction field, tailored for those currently in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar programs seeking practical experience. This initiative is integral to our growth strategy, building on the achievements of previous interns and graduates.
Each participant will be paired with a mentor from management for guidance, ensuring a productive tenure. During the program, interns tackle real-world tasks alongside our team, with potential to explore areas like surveying, GPS modeling, equipment management, and estimating based on personal interests and company needs. This opportunity provides a comprehensive view of running a successful heavy civil construction company.
Key Responsibilities: - Assist crews in the field completing tasks in a safe and timely manner.
- Assist superintendents and project managers with management of current projects.
- Assist with Project estimation and bidding for future projects.
- Assist project scheduler with current project management as well as scheduling for future projects.
- Opportunities to learn other functions in the office or field such as GPS modeling, surveying, and equipment management.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned.
Learning Outcomes:- Gain valuable hands-on experience in the heavy construction industry, both in the field and office.
- Learn what it takes to complete a construction project from start to finish.
- Learn the different career paths and opportunities available to you in the construction industry.
- Gain experience with industry leading software such as HCSS HeavyJob, HeavyBid, Primavera P6, Trimble, AutoCAD, and much more.
Minimum Requirements:- Working toward a two or four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Strong ability to demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work well in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:- Previous experience in the construction industry.
