As a Junior Engineer at Locke Solutions Precast, you will play a vital role in supporting our engineering team across various aspects of our operations. This entry-level position is designed to provide hands-on experience in structural design, CAD drafting, quality control, mix designs, and estimating. You will work closely with experienced engineers and other team members, contributing to the successful execution of projects from concept through completion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Structural Design Support:
- Assist in the development of structural designs for precast concrete components.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform basic calculations and analyses to support design decisions and update tools.
- Conduct research and gather data to support design decisions.
- CAD Drafting:
- Create and modify 3D and 2D drawings for precast concrete products, including detailed production drawings with elevations, sections, and details.
- Work with the design team to ensure accuracy and consistency in drawings.
- Quality Control:
- Participate in quality control processes by reviewing drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in the inspection of precast products during production to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.
- Document and report any quality issues or deviations and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Mix Designs:
- Assist in the development and optimization of concrete mix designs to meet specific project requirements.
- Analyze various concrete mixes to ensure they meet strength, durability, and workability standards as well as cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with production teams to monitor and adjust mix designs during manufacturing to ensure consistency and quality.
- Estimating:
- Work to streamline the engineering component within the estimating process by integrating detailed design and technical specifications early in the bid development stage.
- Assist in creating tools and processes that allow estimators to generate accurate and competitive bids, leveraging engineering insights.
- Support the preparation of quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bid proposals by ensuring all engineering aspects are accurately represented.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with project teams to prepare engineering calculations, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support project goals and deadlines.
- Participate in team meetings, site visits, and contribute ideas for process improvements.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities within the field of structural engineering.

REQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and other design tools.
- Basic understanding of structural engineering principles and construction practices.
- Familiarity with concrete mix designs and testing procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
