Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide a comprehensive approach to land use planning, infrastructure development, and data-driven decision-making. This role involves a range of responsibilities from strategic planning and analysis to report writing and development review. Employees in this classification function at entry professional level to perform planning work and provide assistance in project coordination for transportation planning projects. Objective is to execute the County's program for its Comprehensive Plan in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations

- Obtains data and performs required analysis to support the Comprehensive Plan and associated studies.
- Conducts thorough transportation research and analyzes collected data to inform planning activities and decisions; collects transportation related demographic data ensuring that relevant information is accessible and effectively communicated.
- Provides technical assessments of the impacts of land use for transportation planning.
- Evaluates how proposed land uses affect transportation systems and infrastructure.
- Reviews preliminary and final transportation and development plans for compliance with Comprehensive Plan and land development regulations.
- Ensures that development projects adhere to transportation standards and guidelines.
- Coordinates inter-departmental review of development applications.
- Facilitates inter-departmental collaboration to ensure comprehensive evaluation and integration of transportation considerations.
- Supports senior staff in transportation planning activities and project coordination.
- Assists in the transportation planning function of the department by providing guiding information and analysis to the general public, developers, and consultants with applying the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan to their properties.
- Participates in the review and implementation of the Land Development Code, while contributing to updates and revisions that align with transportation planning goals.
- Assists senior staff in preparing and making presentations to the Board of County Commissioners, Planning Commission, and community groups.
- Provides technical assistance and responds to inquiries at transportation public meetings and hearings.
- Assists project coordinators on assigned transportation projects and fulfills all necessary job functions.
- Serves as a project coordinator on transportation projects, assisting in oversight of team activities and ensuring project success.
- Adapts to evolving responsibilities and contributes to the overall goals of the transportation department.
- Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Environmental Management, or a related field.
Miscellaneous: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Preferred Experience: - Experience with Urban Transportation Planning, Urban Transportation Design/Review, Walkability, Multimodal Transportation Planning, and Code Interpretation.
- Familiarity with the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and has previous experience utilizing ESRI, Google Earth, or similar mapping software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of the principles and practices of urban, environmental, and transportation planning; knowledge of State, County, and municipal planning, zoning and development.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local rules, regulations, ordinances, and other regulatory standards applicable to the work.
- Knowledge of the objectives associated with transportation, current, and long-range planning initiatives within assigned area of planning.
- Knowledge of the body of available and current information resources applicable to the functions for technical research purposes and for special projects as may be assigned.
- Ability to interpret rules, regulations, and policies to support effective decision-making in accordance with established precedent.
- Knowledge of required development applications.
- Interpersonal, leadership, planning, management, and communications skills; ability to communicate professionally verbally, in writing, and in presentations.

Medical Health Reimbursement Account (HRA): The County contributes $500 per employee or $1,000 for employee plus dependents, for medical and prescription-related expenses.
State-of-the-Art Employee Wellness Center: The County provides a private health center for County Employees and eligible dependents. The Employee Wellness Center offers an array of primary care services, including sick visits, enhanced by x-ray services, pulmonary tests, lab work, and a dispensary offering over 200 generic medications onsite. Services at the Wellness Center are offered at no cost to the employees and their eligible dependents.
- Employees who are enrolled on the County's Medical plan have access to the Employee Wellness Center on day one of employment. The Wellness Center is available to patients 8 years of age and older.
Basic Life Insurance Policy: At no cost to the employee, equal to one time the employee's annual salary, rounded to the next thousand dollars. Employees can opt to buy additional Life Insurance.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability: At no cost to the employee. The County offers Short-Term and Long-Term Disability at 60% of the employee's weekly base salary. The employee has the option to purchase an additional 10% coverage.
Membership in the Florida Retirement System: This benefit cannot be easily matched by a traditional 401k plan. Current County contributions are:
