Description / Position OverviewParking Project Engineer (Engineer II)The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a talented and experienced Parking Project Engineer to join our team and oversee the design and construction projects for the Parking Enterprise. The ideal candidate will play a key role in planning, managing, and coordinating various design and construction projects and will work closely with other departmental stakeholders to ensure the success of these projects. This position will also assist with the project management of Stormwater Projects as necessary.

- Manage and administer design and construction contracts for civil engineering projects for the Parking Enterprise and Stormwater Enterprise Capital programs
- Plan, oversee and manage the design and construction projects for the Parking Enterprise, ensuring that all projects are completed within budget and on schedule
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure efficient project delivery
- Prepare requests for proposals and bids, lead the selection process for contracted design and construction services
- Negotiate contracts, and oversee construction inspection and testing
- Establish project schedules, monitor project budgets, and allocate resources in a manner that ensures project success
- Coordinate with stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and other city departments
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal laws
- Maintain project documentation files and records, including documenting project progress, budget, and operations
- Develop standard procedures and policies related to project management
- Work with a Team of Project Management professionals to discuss implementation strategies for both Capital Programs.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate: Knowledge of:
- Professional civil engineering principles, practices, and methods
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Methods and techniques of engineering plan design, review, and approval
- Methods and techniques of contract negotiation and administration
- Modern office technology including Microsoft Office Suite
The ability to:
- Ensure adherence to established contract provisions and specifications
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
Successful candidates will have - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
- Three years of full-time, professional engineering experience in a related area
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
Ideal candidates will also have - Experience in capital project design and management
- Experience in procurement, contract compliance, and/ or contract administration
- Experience in bookkeeping, or managing a budget in a professional setting
- Experience working in a federal and/or municipal government setting
Additional InformationThe City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
