Description
The primary responsibility of the
Structural Engineer, EI will assist the project engineer and/or project leader in structural analysis and design, drawings and specifications, development of building information models, and construction administration on a variety of projects.
Responsibilities of the Structural Engineer, EI- Perform structural analysis and calculations.
- Responsible for review, mark-up and correction of shop drawings.
- Draft construction documents in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Develop structural models for new structures, repairs and/or renovations.
- Perform on-site inspections/special inspections.
- Prepare inspection and field observation reports.
- Assist in the production of technical studies and investigative reports.
- Coordinate and communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally internally with team and project leader along with external consultants, contractors, clients, owners, and other SKA disciplines.
- Attend design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives, as necessary.
- Assist in preparation of proposals and bidding documents.
- Assist the project leader(s) in the development of drawings, sketches, specifications, and sections for project layouts and contract documents, as needed.
- Assist project team in production of projects on time, within budget and of a high technical quality.
- Demonstrate a desire to advance technical and project management knowledge and skills
- Actively participate in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the firm may be enhanced.
- Travel to jobsites as needed, up to 10% of the time, including overnight periodically.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (structural major) from four-year college or university. Required
- Post graduate degree preferred.
- Passed or Registered for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (EI) with a desire to become a Professional Engineer. Required
- Relevant structural internship(s) or experience
- Basic understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry, as well as introductory knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
- Knowledge of construction practices, terminology, and materials.
- Working knowledge of engineering design and analysis software programs, such as RISA and RAM.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
