A leader of store planners and designers, and a designer in their own right with the ability to guide external consultants and internal cross functional partners to develop floor plans, site plans, and elevations that align with established brand standards. This role interacts with Brand Design Directors, Prototype Development team, Construction, Real Estate, Franchise Development, and Restaurant Operations for both new store and remodel programs within a matrix organization.
supports company and franchisee development working cross functionally with Real Estate, Construction, Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, overseeing preliminary site/space planning, develop test-fit plans, review, comment and/or approvals of the construction documents for conformity to design brand standards across all brands. When necessary, can produce preliminary documentation to support new store growth and remodels.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage personal and team workload for new restaurants and remodels utilizing external consultants and internal resources. This Includes traditional and non-traditional venues (in-lines, end caps, conversions, etc.).
- Train, manage, and cultivate relationships with multi-brand outsourced architects, consultants, and internal planning team. Review and manage scope of work, timelines, fee proposals, and quality assurance.
- Create and review site, kitchen, and seating layouts for traditional and non-traditional venues (in-lines, end caps, mall spaces, conversions, etc.). Review and redline internal and external branding for compliance with established standards and review construction documents for compliance with brand intent. Provide feedback to prototype development and maintenance.
- Communicate with Inspire Construction, Real Estate, Operations, etc. for all relevant matters regarding the store planning process.
- Utilize and maintain record keeping within Development tracking system.
Education RequirementsMinimum
- 4 Year / Bachelor's degree - Bachelor's degree within architecture, interior design, or another related field.
Preferred
- 5 year / Professional Degree or 6 year Master's degree - Master's degree within architecture, interior design, or another related field.
Years Of Experience- 7+ years of experience in store planning and project management, with an emphasis in franchised restaurants or retail outlets
- 5+ years of experience producing technical documentation to support the site development process
- 5+ years of experience in restaurant or retail architecture, construction, or store design
- 2+ years of experience leading a team
- Some civil engineering background or experience preferred
- Professional license (architect or interior designer) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Energetic and enthusiastic planner/designer with the ability to manage multiple projects and project sizes across a multi-brand matrix organization.
- People leader - ability to effectively manage a team of planners and designers.
- Architecture and site design technical acumen across the entire restaurant design and architecture process including architectural, site/civil planning, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and brand elements.
- High level of proficiency in reading and understanding architectural, structural, mechanical, and technical engineering documents
- Strong CAD drawing and review skills with the ability to quickly develop or evaluate multi-brand preliminary floor plans, elevations, site plans and building sections.
- Capable of managing a significant workload, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects in a changing environment with minimal direction.
- Highly motivated and the ability to work as team player and excellent communicator including ability to succinctly provide project and workload status reports leadership.
- Ability to interface and maintain excellent professional relationships with a variety of audiences to include franchise partners, internal construction and real-estate function, outsourced consultants, internal and external legal counsel, and various other departments within the Brands as well as government agencies related to site development.
