Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Florida Licensed Professional Engineer at Town of Bay Harbor Islands, in Miami-Dade County, FL. The Town Engineer shall be responsible for performing work and will be assigned tasks by the Town Manager.
*** MUST BE A FLORIDA LICENSED PE WITH EXPERIENCE IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING ***
Examples of Duties Duties include but are not limited to:
- a variety of design, engineering, and construction tasks associated with the Town's Capital Improvements and public works infrastructure.
- planning and execution of capital projects, municipal improvements projects, and the operation and maintenance of existing infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- Current certification as a Florida Licensed Professional Engineer, with 10 years' experience as a Florda Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Bridge design and construction experience in Transportation, MOT's.
- Proficient knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and other related software programs.
- Experience with project management, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Building Department civil engineering plan review.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, managing and reporting N.P.D.E.S.
The ideal candidate will be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida and have experience working with local and state regulatory agencies (i.e. FDOT, DERM, etc.). Experience in the public sector in public works, storm water, water, wastewater, and local government is a plus. The successful candidate must have and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
Supplemental Information The Town of Bay Harbor Islands is a vibrant and progressive community located in the heart of Biscayne Bay, Florida. The Town has a residential population of approximately 6,000 and is home to A+ rated Ruth K. Broad K-8 School. This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 day per week availability during Town of Bay Harbor Islands' emergencies, as determined by Town Administrators, Emergency Manager, or Town Officials.
Physical Requirements: Must physically be able to operate a variety of computers and peripheral equipment including screwdriver, pliers, copiers, scanners, and telephones, etc. Work involves light to moderate work in an office setting. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 20 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
